How to Install Node.js

Before you start building anything in Node.js, the first thing that you need to do is install Node.js in my machine. The Node.js installer is available for all different types of operating system.

So without any further delay, let’s go ahead and install Node in our machine.

Note – I am using Mac operating system. So this tutorial will cover steps for Mac. For Windows user, steps are similar. If there is any difference, I will let you guys know.

Download and Install Node.js

First thing you need to do is go to the Node download website (https://nodejs.org/en/download/) and click on the most stable version for your operating system.

Node Installer

Once downloaded, double click on the installed and then follow the steps. Once completed, Node is installed in your machine.

Verify the installation

Run the command “node” in your terminal to verify that node is installed correctly. If installed correctly, this command will bring Node REPL (aka Node shell). REPL stands for Read-Eval-Print-Loop. It is a quick and easy way to test simple Node.js/JavaScript code. You can write basic JavaScript code to make sure node is installed correctly and working fine. For example, in the below screenshot, I have written a basic JavaScript code
